Versatile Blogger Award

Recently, I blogged about adding personality to my blog. It’s a much more difficult task than I first thought. Sharing isn’t my strong point, ask any of my friends. Being nominated for the Versatile Blogger Award has forced me to reveal a bit more about myself.

So, here are the rules of the Versatile Blogger Award:
If you are nominated, you’ve been awarded the Versatile Blogger award.

Thank the person who gave you this award.
Include a link to their blog.
Next, select 15 blogs/bloggers that you’ve recently discovered or follow regularly.
Nominate those 15 bloggers for the Versatile Blogger Award
Finally, tell the person who nominated you 7 things about yourself.

Before I share my nominations and reveal personal stuff, let me say thank you so much to Lauren from Thoughts on My Bookshelf for nominating me. She’s lovely on many levels and I adore her book blog.

Here are my nominations – 15 blogs that you should definitely check out:

1. Mooderino at Moody Writing. I know this blog (and blogger) has been nominated before, however, it deserves repeated recognition.
2. Writing Sisters, the writing team of Laurie Myers and Betsy Duffey. These authors of children’s books share their experience and expertise on their blog. Always worth reading.
3. Jo-Ann Carson – I love the conversational tone of her blog. You will always find something interesting, entertaining or educational when you visit.
4. Cresta L. McGowan – You might think I’ve included Cresta because she is my CP, that’s not entirely true. Through her blog, I’ve discovered she’s a wonderful poet. Visit her blog, she’s a great gal and you’ll enjoy her posts.
5. Miss Write has a wonderful personality and it shows in her blog posts.
6. Pauline Baird Jones and I have a lot in common. We’re both short for one. 🙂
7. Nina Amir at Write NonFiction Now produces insightful blog posts regularly. I’m sure you’ll find something of interest when you visit her.
8. Two Ends of the Pen is a blog maintained by Debra L. Martin and David W. Small. There you’ll find author interviews, book reviews and Guest Bloggers. Always something interesting to be found there.
9. Chatty Girl Book Reviews – I just this week discovered Chatty’s blog and while it is a book review blog she shows diversity in the genres she reads and reviews. Very impressive.
10. The Deadline Dames are a group of authors who share excerpts from their work, offer writing tips, promote their books and conduct giveaways. Fantastic group of ladies. You should visit their site often.
11. Between the Lines the official blog of Books and Such Literary Team. They blog about everything from the craft of writing to how to find an agent. A must read for serious writers.
12. Amy Neftzger: my main fascination with Amy is her references to Heavy Metal Music. Anyone that can reference Spinal Tap and Dave Mustaine is a winner in my book. She’s quite humorous, drop by and see for yourself.
13. ChickletLit by Trish Gentry is a breath of fresh air. She tells it like it is and makes no bones about it – no matter the subject.
14. Author Kinley Baker – I found Kinley via Twitter and naturally, I followed her to her blog. Not only does she share her writing experiences, she promotes other authors as well. Truly a self-less author and person.
15. The Creative Penn: Joanna Penn has created a very helpful blog. She helps you write, publish and sell your book. Wonderfully helpful posts to be found here.

Now, on to seven things you may not know about me:

1. Although I’m short, I played basketball in junior high and won a best defensive player award along with a most assists award.
2. I never cast a vote in an election until I was 29 years old. Now I try to keep up with political happenings and always exercise my right to vote.
3. Though I’m considered an old maid, I’ve had three marriage proposals in my life. I accepted one but my groom-to-be got cold feet.
4. I never learned how to whistle. No matter how hard I try, I can’t get that sound through my lips. So frustrating!
5. I’m a lifetime member of the National Home Gardening Club. I love getting my hands dirty and helping things grow. If I were wealthy, I’d have a huge greenhouse.
6. I’ve never smoked a cigarette nor a joint. Never had the desire, not even to experiment.
7. When I was 17, I was thrown onstage with Sawyer Brown then ushered backstage. The thought of being viewed as a groupie prompted me to climb a fence to get back to my seat. There is photographic proof out there that I hope never surfaces.

That’s all there is to it. Thanks, again, to Lauren.
